About Gilbert Wong Photography:

[PAST] I studied in Miri Sarawak before and I been shooting with a Sony point and shoot camera I bought myself. My very first love in digital photography. Did a lot of self portraits (so vain, I know), things I do with my uni-mates, and outdoor scenery. Basically I shoot anything bout my life. I created few hundred folders of pics with my trusty compact camera till it died when I last brought it for my jungle trekking. So many memories with my compact cam. Even created short clip with my friends through it. Come to think of it, I been carrying it everywhere I go during my Uni time. I miss you, sony W1.
[PRESENT] I specialized in actual wedding day shoot, pre wedding and slide show designs.

    Wataaa~!!! RedNinja Camp

    Wednesday, April 7th, 2010

When you see the title above, I’m not going to become a real ninja and forget my photography. It’s all about wedding photography workshop for 2 days at a good deal of only near RM950 with good meals, roof over your head and 6 speakers. 1 from Aussie Perth, Wiki Lee San. BEAT THAT. But I heard the speakers have ninja trainings under their belt so I won’t really mess with their mojo. I hope I will be able to get a free seminar as the air ticket has been killing me.

Of course for people from Sabah travelling to Kuala Lumpur I will have to fork out another fee just for Air Asia. But its all good in the name of education and improving my skills to capture the awesomeness wedding moments for my clients.

Previously I spent for a seminar by Joe Mcnally the man himself which really inspired me a lot that the industry does takes more than just passion for camera gears or interest to take good photographs. Its really all about how you can interact with clients and how you handle the shoot in different scenarios throw to you.

What’s next? Hopefully, after the Ninja Camp I will join Yervant or Jerry Ghionis in his workshop in Melbourne June this year.

    Cheers,

Sayonara Ninjas, till I see you again in KL.

    My babe, cobbler and me

    Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

Having the same birthday as your babe can be beneficial. No need to plan birthday dinners twice for both persons. Here are some of the things we did before I brought her to the surprise zone where all my cg gangs gathered.

The nice cobbler guy you see below has been in my want list to capture his smile and how he work in the shop.

Joe Mcnally’s Let There Be Light

    Monday, February 8th, 2010

After months of waiting, this is it. Flying to Kuala Lumpur just for one day seminar to meet and to be inspire by Joe himself and the team. To meet fellow photographers from different places and old buddies from Kota Kinabalu. Not only the seminar was informative it was also entertaining to listen to him talking. “Shoot what you love and be completely, totally tenacious!”-Joe McNally.

Here are some pictures from the trip.

Stewardess & Engineer = Vanessa & Kwan Vui

    Thursday, January 7th, 2010

Starting new year with a good resolutions and goals to achieve is what everyone should plan. For me, I have shot my first wedding of the year on the 3rd of Jan in Shangri-la’s Tanjung Aru Resort Kota Kinabalu.

It was an awesome wedding for blushing bride and handsome groom. The words was taken from a scrapbook signage done by Vanessa. It looks beautiful but too bad it was lost when the wedding reception was over. Shooting a Nyonya bride is a first time exp for me and the groom is local Sabahan. Groom was my senior in my high school and it was a pleasure to capture shots for him and his beloved wife.

I even did my first hip hop dance performance for my church anniversary this year on the new stage. So there you are, many first will be happening in this new year and I don’t wish it to stop. Expect more from this blog.

Thanks to Angela my dearest babe for assisting me in this wedding assignment.

    Monday, December 14th, 2009

They did it again! After 12 years since they visited Kota Kinabalu Sabah, they still got the touch. It was an awesome concert held in UMS Kota Kinabalu. It wasn’t too swarm with photographers and I’m glad to be able to roam around and captured nice moments too good not to share it with you all. Lighting is on our side with many nice flares and color smoke. You got to love it. I tested my new Nikon 70-200 f2.8 VR II AFS on the field. It didn’t disappoint me with its excellent tech behind the glass.

In a way, this concert I treat my dear for her excellent university exam results. She totally earn it and deserve to be pampered. =) Enjoy the concert pictures.
